The Farmhouse is the hub of the IAM Center. It dates from the 1840's when this part of Pennsylvania was settled after the Penn family released their holdings that date back to the pre-Revolutionary days. It has been extensively remodeled while maintaining it's mid-nineteenth century charm.

approach coming up the road.

This shows the dining room wing on the right attached to the oldest part of the building with the living room on the left:

The front wing of the house to the right is constructed of two-two inch thick planks of hemlock, nailed together at right angles to each other to give an incredibly sturdy structure. The back wing which houses the kitchen dates from probably about 1860 . We have been able to identify that as the time period of construction by this kind of nails (square), and the saw marks in the wood. They are ‘up and down' in a straight pattern rather than circular. If they had been circular marks, that wing would have had to be constructed post 1870 after the circular saw had been invented.
