Quiet/Reflective
Retreat
In
these turbulent times, we can easily become overwhelmed with information
and stimulation that come at us. The tension of world politics and struggle,
the demands of job and vocation where priorities and loyalties are often
at cross purposes, the demands of family and relationships are strenuous.
We can feel uprooted, confused, passing through life, the meaning of it
all begins to move beyond our grasp and take its emotional and spiritual
toll.
This is the time when we need to retreat. We need to carve out a time
and have a physical space where we can stop the bombardment from all about
us, to be by ourselves, so we can once again hear the inner stirrings,
to return to what are the core values of our life.
At the IAM Center, you can be immersed in that kind of alone quiet. It
is a place where the hyper stimulation of everyday life drops away like
a heavy garment. It is here you can rest and reflect, engage in meditation
and other spiritual practices that have slipped away with time and activity.
Or you can simply read that book that has been beckoning to you that you
know will help you in your spiritual quest if only you had the solitude
to read and take it in.
If you need someone to assist you during this time of personal restoration,
you can arrange times for spiritual direction with Jack Walters, a practicing
pastoral counselor with thirty years of experience. |
